Venue Info: behind St Johns Cathedral
Every Wednesday evening in central Portsmouth, the Experience, Strength & Hope group of Narcotics Anonymous meets at The Cathedral Centre on Edinburgh Road. You'll find the venue behind St John's Cathedral. The meeting starts at 19:30 and runs for around an hour and a half, following a speaker format where a member shares their story before the wider group joins in. It's a good fit if you're new to NA: the group welcomes beginners and newcomers, so nobody expects you to speak or know how things work. Children are welcome too, which helps if you'd otherwise struggle to attend. This is an open meeting, and the venue has step-free wheelchair access. Come as you are and take a seat.
Can I come along if I'm not sure I'm ready?
Yes. This is an open meeting, so anyone is welcome, including family, friends and anyone simply curious about NA. It's also a beginner and newcomer meeting, so you won't be expected to talk or explain yourself. NA membership is for anyone with a desire to stop using drugs, and you're welcome to just listen.
Do I need to book or pay anything?
No booking is needed and there's no charge to attend. Narcotics Anonymous meetings are free. A basket is usually passed round for voluntary contributions to cover room hire and refreshments, but you never have to give anything, especially as a newcomer.
Is the venue accessible, and can I bring my children?
The Cathedral Centre has wheelchair access. Children are welcome at this meeting, so you can attend if you don't have childcare. The venue sits behind St John's Cathedral on Edinburgh Road, postcode PO1 3HQ.
