On Sunday evenings at 6.30pm, Cheadle Methodist Church on Chapel Street hosts an open AA meeting lasting around an hour. It is welcoming to anyone, whether they have a desire to stop drinking themselves or are there to support a friend or relative. The church is wheelchair accessible, and no chit system operates at this meeting, so it does not provide signed attendance slips for court, probation or treatment purposes. Sunday evening can be a difficult time for people in early recovery, so having a regular meeting available at this point in the week gives the Cheadle area a useful option outside the usual weekday pattern.
