On Friday nights at 8pm, Ilford Barkingside Recovery runs a step meeting at Gants Hill Methodist Church, 18 Gants Hill Crescent, at the Cranbrook Road end. Each meeting lasts an hour and a half and centres on AA's Twelve Steps, the heart of the recovery programme. It is a hybrid meeting: everything happens in the room as normal, while a camera broadcasts to members joining on Zoom, so distance, illness or childcare need not keep you away. As an open meeting, it welcomes anyone, including family members, friends and professionals, alongside people with a desire to stop drinking. There is no charge and nothing to book, in person or online.
What is a step meeting?
The meeting is based around AA's Twelve Steps, with members sharing their experience of working the programme. It suits newcomers and longer-standing members alike.
Can I join this meeting from home?
Yes. It is a hybrid meeting: a camera in the room broadcasts to Zoom (us04web.zoom.us/j/3091060680, password 1234), so you can take part online when you cannot get to Gants Hill Methodist Church.
Who is welcome, and is there a cost?
It is an open meeting, so anyone may attend, including family, friends and professionals. Like all AA meetings, it is completely free with no booking.
