The Friday counterpart to Harlow's Salvation Army meetings, Morning Free Sharing runs from 10.30am for an hour and a half at The Salvation Army on Tendring Road. There is no set text or theme; members simply share their experience of drinking and of staying sober, which makes the format easy to follow from your very first visit. This one is a closed meeting, meaning it is kept for people who have, or think they might have, a desire to stop drinking; anyone attending in support of someone else is asked to try an open AA meeting, such as the Monday lunchtime session at the same venue. Wheelchair access has not been confirmed. It is free, and no booking is ever needed.
What is the difference between this and the Monday meeting here?
Both are free-sharing meetings at The Salvation Army on Tendring Road, but Friday's 10.30am meeting is closed, for people with a desire to stop drinking, while Monday's 12.30pm meeting is open to all.
Do I need to book or pay anything?
No. AA meetings are always free, with no booking or referral. Just arrive shortly before 10.30am on a Friday.
Will I have to talk about myself?
No. You can listen for as long as you like. Sharing is always voluntary, and only first names are used.
